Straight down, straight out: the Sette grind path
The Sette's grind adjustment is connected directly to the cone burr, and beans fall straight through the burrs and out of the chute. Nothing pools in a chamber, adjustments act immediately, and a double shot is ground in about five seconds.

Grind straight into the portafilter, timed to the hundredth
A backlit display, three buttons and a pair of arms that turn 90 degrees. Pull the arms out, rotate them, and they become a rest for your portafilter under the chute; leave them in and they hold the grounds bin.
- Backlit LED display with grind time set in 0.01 second steps
- Start/pause, stop and up/down time buttons; the screen counts up as it grinds
- Pulse mode: hold start for two seconds and grind by eye
- Convertible device arms: pull out, rotate 90 degrees, reinsert for portafilter mode
- Bean shut-off knob on the hopper for swapping beans without emptying it
- Removable grounds tray under the chute for the stray grounds

Cafe-speed motor, home-grinder duty cycle
A 240 W motor drives the burrs at 650 rpm, which is why it is fast and why Baratza asks for a 60 second rest between doses. Treat it like a one-group cafe machine and it will treat you well.

Complete the setup
Chosen for the Sette 30 specifically. A grinder this fast needs a funnel to keep the dose tidy, a scale to set the timer by, and a machine with a 58 mm portafilter that fits its arms.
A 58 mm single boiler with PID. Rotate the Sette's arms and the Anna's portafilter rests straight under the chute.
The Sette grinds fast; a funnel on the 58 mm basket keeps a five-second dose in the puck, not on the tray.
The Sette 30 doses by time, not weight: check the dose on a Lunar until the timer is dialled in, then weigh the shot.
The genuine Baratza stiff brush for the burr clean the manual asks for every few months.
