Twenty settings for espresso alone
Baratza split the Encore ESP's 40 clicks into two ranges. Settings 1 to 20 move the burrs in tiny steps for espresso, settings 21 to 40 take bigger strides for filter, so one turn of the hopper covers a syrupy shot and a coarse cold brew.

Grind, flip, tamp: the dosing cup workflow
The Encore ESP ships with a dosing cup and a 58 mm adapter ring, so grounds go from grinder to portafilter in one flip rather than a spray across the counter. A pulse button and an on/off knob are the only controls, and that is the point.

Complete the setup
Chosen for the Encore ESP specifically. A first espresso grinder needs a machine that matches its ambition, a scale to replace the timer it does not have, and the right brush for the burrs.
A 58 mm single boiler with PID: the classic first machine, and the Encore ESP's 58 mm adapter ring fits its portafilter straight away.
